This course teaches the key mathematical ideas in matrix theory, which are used in various quantitative fields of science and engineering. The course emphasizes the theoretical and conceptual underpinnings of the subject, covering topics such as orthogonality, projections, spectral theory, and algorithms for solving linear equations. Applications include clustering, principal component analysis, regression, and dimensionality reduction.
