Ethics and Politics of Public Service
Course Details
This course explores ethical and political dilemmas that arise in public service work, including volunteerism, humanitarian aid, and public service professions. It examines the motives and outcomes of service work, its connection to justice, and issues of cross-cultural service. The course also looks at the history of public service in the U.S. and considers mandatory service. The Haas Center for Public Service is integrated to connect service activities and public service aspirations with academic experiences at Stanford.
Accomodation
1.Stay in a classic undergraduate residence hall.
2.Residences will have a lounge, common area, laundry facility, and computer cluster with printer.
3.You will most likely have a roommate and you may be placed on co-ed floors.
4.Eat meals with fellow students in a nearby dining commons.
5.Dining options support students with food allergies, religious requirements, medical needs, and vegan/vegetarian diets.
